Biography
1898
Born in Southampton, 22 October, son of Charles Schilsky, a Polish/French violinist.
1912-14
Went to school in Geneva. Studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts.
1914-17
Studied sculpture under Havard Thomas at the Slade School, London.
1917-18
Served in the Gloucester Yeomanry in Egypt and Palestine.
1918-19
Resumed his studies at the Slade.
1928
Married Bettina Fenton, who dies in 1944.
c. 1932
Joined the staff of the Westminster School of Art.
1939
Moved to the Central School of Arts and Crafts.
1940-45
Worked at the Directorate of Camouflage, Ministry of Home security.
1945-69
Head of the School of Sculpture, Edinburgh College of Art.
1946
Married Victorine Foot.
Acted as visiting adjudicator to the Royal College of Art, several years and addressed the students of Kennington Art College and the Academy Schools in Athens.
1956
Elected Academician of the Royal Scottish Academy.
1968
Elected Academician of the Royal Academy, London.
1974
Died in Edinburgh 29 March.
1976
Scottish Arts Council Touring Exhibition.
